Training Institute
Through our Cognitive Behavior Training Institute, mental health professionals participate in a 2-year training program designed to advance their expertise and experience in the understanding of and provision of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with children and adolescents. The Institute provides both didactic training and consultation/case discussion.
Trainings take place every other month and are 3-hours and 15 minutes (3 hours of instruction with a 15-minute break). Small group consultation sessions occur during the alternate months and last 90-minutes. No meetings are scheduled during the months of July and August.
Participants will receive a continuing education certificate for each didactic presentation that they attend. Participants who complete at least eight of the ten didactic sessions and seven of the nine consultation sessions will receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of the two-year institute. Each group is led by an experienced Alvord Baker & Associates therapist with expertise in CBT.
There are four training opportunities. All are held over Zoom:
- Full Certificate program: Ten 3-hour live didactic workshops, plus nine 90-minute small case consultation group meetings; includes a copy of The Action Mindset Workbook for Teens by Mary Alvord and Take Control of OCD: Kid’s Guide to Conquering Anxiety and Managing OCD by Bonnie Zucker.
- Didactic only program: Ten 3-hour live didactic workshops.
- Individual didactic workshops, Live via Zoom. Purchase one or more workshops.
- Home Study: Purchase one or more workshops. You will be required to complete a post-test to receive your CE credit.
