Alvord Baker’s Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Anxiety Groups are designed to help middle and high school students develop effective strategies for managing anxiety. Whether your teen is experiencing generalized worry, social or health anxiety, panic attacks, or phobias, our 8-session program provides a structured environment to build confidence and face fears with support. The primary focus is on exposure therapy, the gold-standard method of gradually confronting feared situations to reduce anxiety. Additional skills, such as challenging anxious thoughts and learning relaxation techniques, are also taught to promote long-term success.
If your middle or high schooler is struggling with anxiety, our CBT for Anxiety Groups can provide them with the tools they need to face their fears and build resilience. Reach out to learn more about how this structured, supportive group can empower your teen with evidence-based techniques for managing anxiety.
Middle School Group (Grades 7-9)
Our middle school group focuses on helping students in grades 7-9 develop the skills needed to manage anxiety. In this co-ed group, participants will be introduced to exposure therapy—gradually facing their fears and overcoming avoidance behaviors. The group will begin with motivational interviewing techniques, helping participants build the confidence to engage in exposure tasks. Through this evidence-based approach, students will learn how to challenge anxious thoughts, manage worry, and develop relaxation skills.
High School Group (Grades 10-12)
Designed for high school students in grades 10-12, this co-ed CBT group uses evidence-based strategies to tackle anxiety in its many forms. The program focuses on teaching exposure therapy, challenging thought patterns, and using relaxation exercises to reduce anxiety and avoidance. High schoolers will learn to face feared situations and develop the skills needed to manage anxiety in their daily lives. Families new to our practice must first participate in an intake session to ensure the program is the right fit for their teen.
