With almost 20 years of experience in the field, Ms. Carmichael is a dedicated and seasoned clinician who treats children, teens, and adults. She holds a Masters degree from Catholic University and has received specialized training in Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), Parent Management Training (PMT), and Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs). She holds a clinical license in Maryland, D.C., and Virginia.
Ms. Carmichael specializes in treating anxiety, depression, OCD, ASD, BFRBs (body focused repetitive behaviors such as hair pulling and skin picking), and chronic illness. She is skilled in helping people navigate life transitions and relationship struggles. Ms. Carmichael also brings expertise and passion to her work with parents, providing parent training to address a wide variety of childhood and young adult challenges. Her approach is always practical, realistic, and often creative; she understands that not one size fits all and tailors her approaches to fit any stage of life or circumstance.
Ms. Carmichael utilizes evidence-based approaches to help clients identify goals and take realistic and consistent actions towards improving their lives and relationships. She brings a warm, fun, and engaging presence to the therapy room.
Outside of her professional life, Ms. Carmichael is a mom of four, an outdoor enthusiast, and a creative chef who loves experimenting with unexpected ingredients.
