Dr. McLean is a Licensed Psychologist in Maryland and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) with a decade of experience specializing in the care of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), genetic disorders, and other neurodevelopmental conditions. She holds a PhD and MA in Educational, School, and Counseling Psychology, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Behavior Analysis from the University of Missouri.
Her clinical training includes a predoctoral internship at the Kennedy Krieger Institute/Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Autism Spectrum Center at Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital. Dr. McLean’s therapeutic approach is data-informed and evidence-based, with a focus on building functional skills, strengthening the parent-child relationship, and reducing maladaptive behaviors that impact safety and quality of life.
Utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), applied behavior analysis (ABA), and behavioral parent training methods, she supports families with addressing a range of concerns including tantrums, aggressive outbursts, disruptive behaviors, toilet training difficulties, self-injurious behaviors, elopement, sleep issues, and refusal behaviors.
Dr. McLean employs an individualized and collaborative approach to psychological evaluations, offering families comprehensive insights into their child’s strengths and needs. She specializes in identifying neurodevelopmental conditions and learning differences, and in recommending tailored school-based supports and therapeutic interventions that foster growth and success. With extensive experience working alongside education consultants, special education attorneys, and disability attorneys, Dr. McLean is well-versed in conducting independent evaluations to support children’s educational needs.
Dr. McLean formerly served as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Behavior Analysis and Therapy Program at Southern Illinois University where she taught future clinicians how to support children with neurodevelopmental conditions and provided mentorship through graduate thesis supervision. Dr. McLean has co-authored research publications related to using CBT to improve insomnia in children with ASD, evaluating the effectiveness and breadth of school-based interventions, and assessing the impacts of teacher burnout. Outside of her professional work, Dr. McLean enjoys tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, spending time in nature, reading, and cheering on the Ravens.
