Laura Prosen is a licensed social worker with more than 25 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in private and group practices and school settings. After earning her MSW from Catholic University’s National Catholic School of Social Services, she has worked in a variety of settings and demonstrated success in individual and group therapy, case management, and crisis intervention.
Laura specializes in working with individuals with a variety of social and emotional health issues, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, stress, anger management, self-esteem, grief, and relationship and school issues.
Laura is also passionate about working with parents of twins, understanding the unique challenges they face in asserting their own identities. As someone with a twin sibling and her own twins, Laura brings a personal understanding to her work with families. She also specializes in supporting adolescents who may be struggling with the transition to college, helping them advocate for themselves, assert their independence, and develop essential life skills.
Within her sessions, Laura focuses on establishing and maintaining a trusting relationship in a safe, supportive environment and helping clients identify and address roadblocks in life in order to set and achieve goals for future growth. She practices Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help her clients identify unhelpful thoughts or behaviors and teach them how to learn and maximize coping strategies to live their best lives. Laura believes each client has unique strengths and guides them to use their own best practices to navigate concerns and achieve long-term success. She uses a wide range of strategies to create an individualized approach to behavior change.
Outside of work, Laura enjoys spending time with her family and friends, plays pickle ball and loves to travel.
