Dr. Lemuel "Lem" Yutzy, PhD, LCSW-C (he/him) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years of experience, licensed to practice in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC. He earned his Master of Social Service (M.S.S.) from Bryn Mawr College and his PhD in Social Work from The Catholic University of America. Dr. Yutzy has extensive psychotherapy experience working with adolescents and adults in individual and group settings, and his diverse clinical background includes roles as a mobile clinician, outpatient therapist, and in-school therapist for middle and high school students.
Dr. Yutzy specializes in the assessment and treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD, OCD, phobias, parenting concerns, trauma, spiritual dissonance, and psychosexual development. His expertise also includes crisis intervention and diagnosis, working with individuals, couples, and families from various backgrounds. He employs a client-centered and solution-focused approach, integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Attachment Theory, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction to support his clients in developing effective coping strategies and achieving emotional well-being.
Dr. Yutzy has held the position of adjunct professor at Columbia University's Graduate School of Social Work and The Catholic University of America's Graduate School of Social Service, where he provided instruction and mentorship to emerging clinical social workers. Additionally, he has served as a guest lecturer at Bryn Mawr College's Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research, focusing on the intersections of religion, social theory, and human development. Dr. Yutzy derives substantial satisfaction from mentoring both aspiring and newly licensed clinicians, guiding them in the advancement of their professional competencies and personal growth.
Outside of his professional life, Lem enjoys playing guitar, attending concerts, playing basketball, and soaking up the sun at the beach. He’s also a die-hard, life-long Cincinnati Bengals fan. Above all, Lem treasures spending quality time with his wife and daughter, who bring immense joy and balance to his life.
