Dr. Thomas is a compassionate clinician with nearly 30 years of experience providing comprehensive evaluations. She earned her B.S. in Psychology and minor in Spanish from the University of Scranton. Dr. Thomas received her M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Boston, where her research focused on cultural issues impacting second-generation teens.
Dr. Thomas completed pre-doctoral training in neuropsychology through Harvard and Cornell Medical School hospital clinics and a postdoctoral fellowship in developmental disabilities through Kennedy Krieger Institute/Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She worked at Kennedy Krieger for ten years and co-founded the Pathways to Young Adulthood Clinic to support the transition to young adulthood. Prior to this, Dr. Thomas was an educational consultant at Bass Educational Services, specializing in college counseling for students with learning, attentional, and medical challenges. She has visited over 60 universities, including many Disability Support and Student Success offices.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Thomas has taught undergraduate students at UMass Boston, Cal State Northridge and University of Baltimore and supervised doctoral students at George Washington University. She has taught continuing education for professionals and co-authored the journal article, “Advising families on AD/HD: A multimodal approach.”
Dr. Thomas’ clinical focus includes evaluations for learning, attention, and executive functioning challenges, the impact of chronic illnesses, anxiety and/or depression, and concerns related to testing accommodations and the college transition. Dr. Thomas takes a holistic, collaborative approach, incorporating educational records, standardized tests, and school and professional collaboration.
As a mother of three daughters, Dr. Thomas brings a personal understanding of family dynamics to her work. She also draws from her experience as the daughter of immigrants, military family member, and Catholic school parent to support families with similar paths.
Outside of work, Dr. Thomas volunteers at her parish and local food pantries and as a scholarship reader. She enjoys cooking, biking, and listening to all types of music, including music her daughters enjoy. She is grateful to serve the families she works with, supporting and empowering them with her clinical work.
